THE ART OF PULLING ATTENTION YOUR WAY AND SHARING JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF INFORMATION
I love designing posters. Unlike other design projects, the poster is a simple way to pull attention your way and share just the right amount of information about an event or product. Because most projects are web-based, it’s refreshing to create a work of art destined to be printed on a beautiful medium that reveals its qualities through ink. It doesn’t take a whole lot of ingredients to design a great poster: a clear and compelling concept, one or two (or more) inks and a nice sheet of paper.
Every year since 2013, I have designed posters for Julia Cristina’s series of Flamenco de Luces performances. Our creative collaborations always result in rich designs that inspire the essences of Flamenco defined by the beautiful tensions between the seductive powers of the feminine and the intensity of the masculine; or the vibrant sun and blood hues and the moody silhouettes. At the heart of each poster design, Julia Cristina seduces the viewer with intense presence and attitude, whether she’s emerging from the shadows, adamantly posing, dancing or riding, or being mysterious as a silhouette.
